Friday....hard week....and looking to stimulate some discussion here again. So here goes........

I ride a bike because:

I enjoy the focus it brings to my day and how it manages to exclude all the other stuff that is going on in my world as I ride down the road.

I enjoy the fact that a biker anywhere will talk about bikes and it doesnt matter who you are or where you come from.

I enjoy the acceleration and being outside when I ride.

I enjoy still irritating my friends and mum by not growing up!

Why do you ride?

It sharpens the senses....
It gives me a sense of sheer excitement, the kind i have not felt since my first real love affair.
it Instills a sense of freedom, the closest i've come to flying whilst on the ground.
you get to meet some of the best people, even complete strangers will stop what they are doing to see if they can help if you are in a fix..[thanks thumper]...
and just the fact that i can ride with relative freedom of movement, just fill her up point and go without any rhyme or reason. [cant say i've ever done that in the car.....]
Oh yeah and Trackdays..I just wish I had the cash to do them all

Trackdays are the mutts nuts... scared shitless, and hyperexcited at the same time...like steve wright says,, " you know the feeling when you tip back in your chair and you almost loose it... I feel like that all the time"
kind of like being at a trackday..... Shocked

Me, the bike, the cool air in the morning. The silence broken as you thumb the starter (or kick you're old relic over Very Happy Very Happy ) and you're off. Where..............god knows just follow your nose. You might meet someone, you might not. It's your day and the roads belong to you.

The trackday, the track and you. The slider meets tarmac and you know you got it just right. Or did you??? Might push a little harder next lap.....crash, bang, wallop, gravel trap. The hospital, THAT nurse. You'll be giving it all up then they said. That'll be right.....away ye go. Very Happy

And on top of all that I do get a general feeling of superiority over every other type of road user Razz . Is that ok?

Firstly the boring reasons and the reasons i told my girlfriend why i should get a bike, its cheap to buy, run and insure, parking is easy and traffic jams dont exist now for the real reasons. You cant not look cool on a bike (even my wee 125 cruiser), freedom(cant take the missus out with me as only got my CBT so no nagging), the wind in your face and bugs in your teeth, and mostly the look on my wee boys face everytime he sees my bike, priceless. And the fact that the first time i had an"incident"on my bike, the first person to stop and check if i was ok was a fellow biker.Didnt get your name dude but was much appreciated(Gyle area, Edinburgh, November this year)
