Post subject: where do I start? |
Wrote a whole page of them last night but the creaky old laptop wouldn't let me upload. I think this is probably the worst one though. How about buying a T-160V Trident and thinking I could use it as everyday transport? So I bought one of those dinky little Honda 250 singles (CB250RS I think) to keep me on the road whilst the Trumpet was (usually) in bits. One fine Saturday morning on my way to Dundee to buy some bits for the Triumph: coming off the Friarton Bridge onto the Perth-Dundee road with a following wind got my self flat on the tank, hooked my toes over the rear indicators, grabbed the front forkleg with my left hand, using my right to pin the throttle open and saw 94mph on the clock, whipped through a short contraflow like it was a chicane - would it make 95?? then I passed the police Range Rover . . . Got away with a severe bollocking from the cops, £30 and an endorsement - if anybody remembers what one of them was. These games are all very fine and well for bike journalists to play at MIRA or Bruntingthorpe, but maybe they're not so cool on the road?
Apart from that one, I can honestly say that I've never been done for speeding deliberately, but I have been caught out when tired and not paying sufficient attention to both my speed and the presence of either cameras or blokes with hairdryers: that's embarrassing and dangerous, so maybe I deserved it.
Riding at high speed, pumped up with adrenaline and totally concentrated on the activity in hand, using maximum forward observation for the possible presence of the Law is safer than being bored out of your mind tootling along at the national speed limit? - discuss. _________________ Time flies like an arrow.
