Email via MAG Scotland:

NLSQBC is a recreational off road club run for and by the members. It was formed by Bob Reid as a result of the misuse of Moto-Crossers and Quad bikes in the North Lanarkshire and surrounding areas. We are working together with Strathclyde Police and the Scottish Auto-Cycle Union to educate our young riders on how to ride their Bike or Quad responsibly and to provide a place of safety where they can pursue their sport.

One of the NLSQBC club key aims is the set up and provision of a centre of excellence for off road motorcycling in North Lanarkshire. To this end we have created an online petition seeking the general support of all residents in Scotland to call upon the First Minister and the Scottish Executive to urgently review the current Planning and Environmental Regulations. These regulations are currently are too restrictive in allowing for the provision of national and local facilities from being established throughout Scotland.

Please support this petition to the First Minister, to call upon him to identify the urgent need for establishing proper off-road facilities in Scotland.
This would allow young people to develop new skills with health benefits and promote responsible citizenship through participation at safe facilities which are regulated and to also remove the issue of criminalisation of young people for having a hobby. There are real positive benefits in developing young peoples skills and community responsibility as well as an opportunity to reduce perceived nuisance in our local communities from the use of off road motorcycles and quads.

Our intention is to create a high impact and intensive public campaign. The support of motorcycle clubs, family, friends and the wider community would help send a clear message to the Executive. MAG and club help in promoting this petition will be a great benefit to us and the wider community.

Thank you in advance.

Bob Reid over there does a superb job. Amongst the many courses he runs is an environmental sustainability courses for off-roaders (Bob's a full-time Countryside Ranger) to ensure that they enjoy off road quad and biking while minimising their impact on the environment. Very Happy

He's also taken a lot of young offenders off the streets and away from bike crime etc. and given them a positive interest.

He deserves as much support as he can get!

Thanks for posting this Rach.
