That's my girl Rach.
I'm an outlaw over there too. Even as a guy the testosterone over there stings my eyes sometimes! _________________ 'Never put your bike anywhere that your brain hasn't been 5 seconds before!' (

There's a few of us had the wagons circled against us maddog. It tends to happen only if you present an opinion not accepted by the hard core membership.
I've discovered that there seems to be a lot of directed humour over there which is readilly given but not so funny when directed back at them.
It is a really good board and I've found the majority of guys are brilliant. Those I've met face to face are really good guys and those I've PM'd always come back to you with an answer. They also are always ready to help with advice or information. It's a good forum and I enjoy going over there but I'll be damned if I'm going to bow to anyone over there (or anywhere else for that matter) and that's not to say that I'm afraid to admit I could be wrong sometimes.
I've always said that it's only by being exposed to an alternative point of view that we learn to grow as individuals and the currency of any forum is debate.
jpatarson and I were just saying last week that R1allmine has really livened this forum up and injected a lot of humour into the equation. You need people like that on a forum - he takes everything in the right spirit.
In fact, F41NXS PM'd me before he left to say that he was really only trying to inject a bit of humour onto this board and to be honest he seems a good guy. Never once did I get the impression from him that the banter we shared was ever taken personally but we got a good vollie going there for a bit and that, I believe, is why people log onto these forums.
I'll stand up anytime, anywhere for the underdog (given that the cause is morally right of course) and I abhor any fragment of society (virtual or otherwise) who marginalise people to massage their own inflated egos!
In any collective group of people (virtual or otherwise) you have to very careful that you don't create an inner circle - aka a 'clique' - because you will always remain a 'clique' and rapidly head the same way as the dodo. _________________ 'Never put your bike anywhere that your brain hasn't been 5 seconds before!' I think i will have to watch what I say on here or I may be the next to be removed, im bikeless just now as its still on the mend so may be spending a little extra time surfing sites
hope im not banned before im even on, just because my bike is in pieces? or is that just the DBF |
Hi Burnuper
Yes, I think you've got your wires crossed a little there. F41NXS left for a variety of reasons and in fact PM'd me to explain. 8-)
He and I were simply debating from opposite poles. Doubt either of us took any of it personally. 8-)
Sometimes though on a public forum you are asking for contovesy if you have a particularly strong viewpoint on a specific subject. The majority of guys who post on here do so tongue in cheek. Who cares at the end of the day.
Often you find the most outspoken critics on forums are the quietest individuals when you meet them personally.
That having been said, you need a little controvesy on a forum to make it interesting and attract members.
One of F41NXS's main reasons for leaving is that he felt the forum had become devoid of humour. Another was that he often spent several hours on the forum which ate into bike time. _________________ 'Never put your bike anywhere that your brain hasn't been 5 seconds before!' (

I dont have to worry about bike time as mine is still under repair |
Hi Burnuper
Yes, I can comisserate with you there. Like you my bike is in for repair just now (just found out it'll be Thursday nefore I get it back) and like Rach I'm in the middle of academic study just now which requires a lot of time in front of the PC
I tend to have breaks every half hour or so then open up a few windows and log into a few forums just to avoid the tedium.
Funny thing is, two of the windows I've often got open involve forums with perspectives from either end of the spectrum and equally are as un-insteresting. _________________ 'Never put your bike anywhere that your brain hasn't been 5 seconds before!' (
