Without the bikers organ donations would be even lower than it is now....leave them alone they are doing a fine job

anyone actually carry a donors card?

I feel its my duty to give blood as someone saved my life by donating many moons back when I wrote of my LC350 in 1982

but when it comes to organ donation ive a totally different view, some may think im selfish but thats my decision.

I wonder what happens when someone is at deaths door and on life support with a donor card sticking out there pocket, will vultures be waiting for pickings of heart, kidneys etc or will everything possible be done including being kept on life support in hope of recovery

think about it !!!!!!!!!! Laughing

have another think about it!!! it could be you, could ave been me last week if it wasnt for my angel watching over

You have a valid point there, and one I think many believe Shocked

I had a friend that died waiting for a Kidney and I watched her struggle with dialysis machines for years during what should have been the best years of her life, she died at 39 and never got to the top of the waiting list. Sad

This is the reason I carry a donor card, if my life is lost (whether genuinely or suspiciously) I have had some good years where as these people that are waiting have mostly not even had the chance.

However on a total selfish note, I have never given blood as I am too scared of needles Embarassed plucked up courage once but was turned away as I had a cold, never been back.............. I should be shamed into going Embarassed

Interested to hear other points of view, so I split this thread.

Don't think your comments will be taken out of context, I have quoted the line which you originally refer if that helps.

However this lot are too busy messing around to come up with intelligent opinions or debate Laughing

I'm pretty much with you there F4I. Giving blood doesn't phase me at all.

My first time was done under 'orders' and involved a regular tab - sometimes twice a day down to Cambridge Military hospital in Aldershot, have done ever since. Having spent around 15 years in the emergency services it would have been hipocritical not too continue but these days I don't attend often enough so must give myself a reminder to give blood the next time the transfusion service is in the area. Smile

Organ donations is another matter as you rightly say! It's a matter of trust. The illegal International black market in organs is huge and extremely lucrative for those who are involved - where does their intelligence come from? Shocked

Then there's theres Michael Crighton's alarming novel, screenplay and film 'Coma' in the late eighties. Shocked Clearly a realist writer with a lot of experience in the medical profession (Jurrasic Park, ER etc.). Sure, entertainment but leaves you wondering where fiction ends and facts start! Shocked

Who can forget the Alderhey scandel to boot? Shocked

Nothing racial intended here F4I - I just don't want to let mine go (to anybody regardless of race, religion or creed) when there still might be some mileage left in them or before I'm ready! Wink

Up late aren't you? Hope you don't have an outside toilet out there! Smile
