Anyway onto Cherrybank Gardens as most of you know its now closing down and the cafe, shop and gardens are all going. We were told that the council weren't interested in saving the site but after talking to our local councillor apparently they knew nothing about the closure. The press release wording being very ambiguous and concentrated more on losing the calyx funding rather than the closure of the gardens and the loss of jobs, not to mention the loss to Perth

However there is a petition to be signed in the shop and all stock has 50% off at the mo so if you have a chance to go and sign you can fill your boots with bargains - I have nearly all my Christmas presents bought! There's toys, books as well as handbags, ornaments, jewellery oh and whisky although there's only 30% off of that but some decent malts. Open 7 days a week now

Just can't believe that in its 25th yr instead of celebrating they are closing the place

oh well
Rant over - spread the word

Seems a wee bit off, trying to stop it shutting buy getting people to protest, but on the other hand buying all their stock half price because of their misfortune in closing. They are already at a loss by the very people who are campaining to keep it open Rolling Eyes
Thats what you call kicking in the balls when you are down IMO of course

I don't suppose the protest will do one iota of good but we are trying. The place will close regardless of whether the council are given the chance to take it on and the shop had just been fully stocked for the summer. The stock has to go whatever happens. The birds - cockatiels etc - have been collected from the gardens. The garden machinery has gone. The head gardener has been offered a job at Ballathie. Very upset folk have been collecting memorial benches etc. Its very very sad and shouldn't be happening. Perth folk should make a stand. Ann Gloag has bought the flield one side of it and theres a £20million project planned for the otherside of it. What chance have we got? but we still should make a stand. However cutting your nose off to spite your face is ridiculous and so unfortunately theres bargains to be had, I'd rather stock be sold than scotlands garden trust farce get their hands on it

Right the demo is for 11.00 and altho the folk should rise up and fight this sort of thing I am fed up with the council - who have been proved to have refused to help the gardens behind closed doors - are now the ones jumping up and down now its closing.

If you're off for a ride out tho you could do worse to start off from there, and have a coffee before you go, bikers congregating alays add a certain something to the proceedings!

vive le reveloution or something like that!

Ann Gloag seems to me just another one of those wealth obsessed entrepreneurs that are interested only in lining their own pockets. The entire country seems to be infested with them - can't even get away ffrom them on the TV these days - the whole public seems to have turned them into celebrities. What's worse is they even believe their own PR these people. Oh to be in the right place at the right time. Rolling Eyes
