Just bought a Nokia N95 with GPS. Downloaded Nokia Sporttracks which is used for runners (my other interest) to log training and race runs. Switched it on and set off on my bike. Came back. Exported file in GPX format and then loaded it into Sportstracker on PC (different to Nokia program) and hey ho no we have a record of my Sunday run mapped onto a satellite or road image. How cool is that.
Gives me splits for every mile, top speed etc etc....it is so cool...
Anyone got an N95 i'll send links to the software and maybe put up some pics if interested

Only problem is if Mr Plod stops you and knows you have an N95 Confused

Good point....so enthusiastic....

Bought a Nokia N95 mobile phone
This has sat nav on it.
When I go out on my bike I switch it on.
It reocrds my journey.
I come back and download the data into my pc.
I can then map the journey I took onto google earth or any other mapping software.
It gives me data like:
What was the length of the ride.
What was my slowest and fastest mile
How high did I go?
How low did I go?

I know a bit geeky but its good to hve a record of the rides I take.

Am i really very sad???

That's cool, getting Nav on a phone but don't you go getting your 'puter confiscated coz they'll have your licence a dozen times over (or they would mine anyway)...

If you're a techy (I'm a numpty) what's the best GPS to buy? I need one that'll plot say, a tree, to the nearest 1m - it doesn't need to be more accurate than that but better than the 1m/5m I've seen advertised. Or can you suggest a shop that specialises that I can talk to?

Oh, and it'd be fab if it had all the gubbings to get it to talk to my laptop and mapping programme... (and can I get the earth with that too?!)

Bit of a techy.....but resolution of Nokia 95 is about 2m I'd say....it can work out which side of the road I am on and shows when I overtake a car on a motorway!

Ifyou want a spiffy gps system then N95 is prob not the best. Garmin have the edge for orienteering/mountaineering type stuff...but I'm no expert.
